Novio Eléctrico
Novio Eléctrico tells the story of a Latina who wants electric love. Life with her boyfriend is dull and boring, and she is torn by the universal dilemma of staying and hoping things will change, or leaving and hoping her desires will be fulfilled. What will she do?
The story is told in the powerful voice of Colombian salsa and bolero singer Mirabay Montoya, a sought-after vocal coach who counts Karol-G among her students, and the daughter of Colombia’s most beloved classical pianist, Teresita Gomez. She is joined by renowned Colombian salsa singer Mauro Mosquera, a former member of Grupo Niche. Novio Eléctrico was produced in Colombia in collaboration with Musical Arranger Marcos Burbano, Musical Producer Giovanny Montoya, and film director Fernando Puerta.
Alba Martínez, a Puerto Rican from Philadelphia and the project’s producer, wrote the Latin salsa-bomba fusion with the collaboration of 83-year-old salsa legend Izzy Sanabria, a Puerto Rican from New York. Izzy is world-famous for his graphic artistry, as the creator of numerous legendary FANIA record album covers and salsa event posters. He was a Master of Ceremonies at FANIA concerts and is recognized for propelling the worldwide salsa explosion through his Latin NY Music Magazine’s Latin Music Awards in 1975. Novio Eléctrico is Izzy’s first songwriting collaboration. Novio Eléctrico’s outstanding Latin musicians are Giovanny Montoya, bass, Julian Arias, piano, Edward Montoya, trombone, Dante Vargas, trumpet, Morits Jimenez, percussion, and Cristina Escamilla, vocals.
